USHL Saturday Action
Ohio doubled up Green Bay 6-3. Wisconsinite Justin Cseter scored first against his former teammates to lead Ohio to the victory. Cseter was also +2. Ryan Little finished with an assist and was -2 in the contest. Green Bay outshot Ohio 37 to 30.
Cedar Rapids was victorious over Indiana 3-1. Wisconsinite Brent Gwidt assisted on the lone Indiana goal and finished even.
It didn't take long for Scott Pavelski to re-emerge in a Blackhawks uniform, but unfortunately his first regular season USHL game turned out to be a 6-4 defeat. Aaron Schmit played in his first regular season USHL game for Chicago and finished +1. For Waterloo, Pavelski had an assist and was -2, Craig Smith scored a goal and was even, Blake Kessel had an assist and was even while Brock Montpetit and Keegan Meuer were held off the scoresheet and finished even.
Omaha continues to fire on all cylinders downing Sioux Falls 6-3. Eric Springer & Jacob Drewiske finished -1 for Sioux Falls while teammate Sam Zabkowicz had two assists but finished -2. Matt Thurber scored his second short-handed goal of the season in as many games and finished +1. He also got five for fighting against six foot three, 200 pounder Kris Reinthaler from Austria. Jake Hauswirth had an assist for Omaha and was also +1. Potential UW recruit defenseman Patrick Wiercioch finished +2 with an assist for Omaha.
Sioux City squeaked by Lincoln 4-3 in a shootout. Both Travis Erstad and Ross Henry for Lincoln were held off the scoresheet and finished even.
Tri-City and Des Moines were also in action Saturday night, but the game was postponed when the ice became unplayable. The game will be made up at a later date.
