USHL Saturday & Sunday Update
Omaha and Scott Gudmandson got off to an 0-2 start when they lost to Tri-City Saturday night by a score of 3-2. Luke Lucyk had a goal for Tri-City with Sean Wiles assisting, and Brett Bruneteau had a goal assisted by Garrett Suter for Omaha.
Lincoln scored a touchdown on Sioux Falls, winning 7-2. No Wisconsin natives or UW recruits had points in this game. Ross Henry for Lincoln and Patrick Tiesling for Sioux Falls finished +1, while David Solway and Jacob Drewiske finished -1. Potential UW recruit Brad Malone finished -2 for Sioux Falls.
Green Bay got a 4-2 win over Cedar Rapids Saturday. Derrick La Point had a goal, and Mike Sislo had an assist for Green Bay.
Indiana defeated Chicago 2-1 Saturday, but both Nathan Lawrence and Brent Gwidt were scoreless and even in this game.
Ohio downed Waterloo Saturday 3-2 in overtime, while Waterloo returned the favor on Sunday 2-1 in regulation. Josh Turnbull started to find his stride Friday as he had 10 shots and scored a goal. Saturday, Turnbull had two assists as did Jan-Mikeal Juutilainen. It looks, based on the scoresheets, that Turnbull is on a line with Juutilainen....which should only help UW should it extend a scholarship offer to Juutilainen. Blake Kessel had a tough weekend finishing -3 for Waterloo. Keegan Meuer did not play in either game for Waterloo.
