Nigel Williams #13 Prospect for Avs

Nigel Williams is currently listed as #13 on the Colorado Avalanche prospect list. Unfortunately for the Avs, they only have one other defenseman currently rated in front of Nigel Williams. Williams needs some time to develop, so the Avs are likely going to continue to address their defenseman needs via trades for veterans or high level prospects. Here's what Hockey's Future had to say about Nigel Williams:

13. Nigel Williams, D (18) 2nd Round, 2006 Entry Draft
Surprisingly, Williams did not go as early in the draft as some had speculated allowing Colorado to snatch him in the second round. Like many of Colorado’s top prospects, Williams comes from the US National Development Program and made a splash at the Four Nations Tournament last February scoring two goals and an assist in the three-game tournament. In 2005-06, he played in 48 games scoring six goals and 15 points. Williams will continue to develop in the NCAA system, as he has committed to playing with NCAA Champion University of Wisconsin. The Avs consider Williams to be an offensive defenseman despite the fact that his production dropped this past season. At 6’4 and 226 pounds, the Avs certainly like Williams’ size and the fact that the Illinois native is not afraid to be physical.
