Potential Forward Recruits for UW in 2007

An article in today's Wisconsin State Journal sheds some light on potential UW forward recruits for 2007. Brent Gwidt and Brett Bruneteau are both mentioned, and have been known to be interested in UW for a while. The two new names are Jan-Mikael Juutilainen and Brad Malone.

Juutilainen played for Finland in the World Junior Championship and was impressive. He was drafted by Chicago, and from the sounds of the article might be steered to UW by the Blackhawks. He will be playing this coming season for Omaha in the USHL.

Brad Malone is from Miramachi, New Brunswick, and according to the article is considered the top available North American recruit for 2007-2008. His uncle worked with Mike Eaves while both were with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

One last thing that caught my eye from the article is that it starts out by saying UW needs at least two forwards for 2007-2008. This acknowledges the possibility that Chris Hickey and Josh Turnbull could enter school a season earlier than planned.
