Many Notable Wisconsin Players on Current Waterloo Blackhawks Roster

According to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier, the following Wisconsin players are currently on the roster of the Waterloo Blackhawks:

F-Brett Olson of Superior (spent some time with Sioux City last season)
F-Keegan Meuer of Verona (1st team All-State as Junior w/Madison Memorial)
F-Craig Smith of Madison (HM All-State as Sophomore w/Madison La Follette)
D-Blake Kessel of Madison (played for Madison Capitols)
F-Josh Turnbull of Hayward (plays for Duluth East & is committed to UW)

Turnbull has been on the Blackhawks roster since the July 1st cutdown, and Olson made a USHL roster for a while last season, so they are not surprises. But Meuer, Smith and Kessel are surprises to one degree or another. Kessel was tendered by Traverse City in the NAHL and was thought to be likely playing there. Meuer was rumored to be leaving Memorial to play for the Madison Capitols. Smith played with Meuer & Kessel on the Capitols at one time. Waterloo still needs to trim their roster from 25 players to 23 players by the end of the Buc Bowl.
