BCHL Update

Kyle Turris and the Burnaby Express currently hold a two games to one lead on Langley in their first round playoff series. Turris started the series slowly by his standards in the first game with a goal and an assist in Burnaby's 4-2 win. Burnaby won the second game as well by a score of 5-4, with Turris notching four assists and Second Star of the Game honors. The third game was won by Langley 6-4 with Turris being named Third Star of the Game and netting two goals and adding an assist. Turris is leading all playoff scorers with 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points. Turris has now had a point in a BCHL-leading 19 straight games.

Goaltender Scott Gudmandson had a spectacular regular season but he and his Salmon Arm teammates, including potential UW recruit Derek Lee, currently find themselves down 2-1 to Prince George. Salmon Arm started strong in their first game with a 5-0 throttling of Prince George. Gudmandson turned away all 38 Prince George shots, and Lee had an assist in the game. In the second game, Salmon Arm again scored 5 goals, but allowed 7 goals. Gudmandson stopped 30 of 36 shots he faced and Lee had an assist in the game. The third game was a much lower scoring affair, with Prince George edging Salmon Arm 3-2. Gudmandson stopped 24 of 27 shots in the contest.
