Badgers vs. Bulldogs Friday Recap

The Badgers controlled most of the Friday game against the Bulldogs, but just don't have enough guys that can finish around the net. It was in question whether they would have enough scorers when the season began, and with Klubertanz, Carlson and Skille out, the answer for now is that they certainly do not have enough offensive firepower. Elliott played pretty well, but I think (and I'm sure he thinks this as well) he could play better. He needs to stand up and stop that first goal, which came from a bad angle. On the second, he seemed to be screened...but I'm not sure he had his angle quite right.

The bottom line is there is little room for error with this team right now. No room for anything but great goals by the opponents, no room for letdowns in tempo in the third period, and no room for converting even less scoring opportunities than are being finished now.

Andrew Joudrey had a great game last night. It's nice to see him finish some opportunities. In previous years, he just did not finish enough of his opportunities. It will be important for the upperclassmen to keep stepping up until the Freshmen begin to chip in a bit more.

With missing on the recruitment of lots of forwards for next season-losing Gagner, missing on Winnett, Trupp, Kane, Malone, etc. I'm nervous about next year as well. Imagine this team permanently without Skille, Carlson, Dowell, Joudrey and Brandt. Finding more quality forwards to go with Turris next season is imperative.
